Miss Resina Smith has been committed for trial at Auckland on a charge of child murder. At the Police Court, Blenheim, on Monday a lad of fourteen was charged with throwing rotten eggs into a Salvation Army meeting on Sunday evening. The boy’s father was ordered to enter into a bond to keep the peace for three months and to pay costs, Patrick Moran attempted suicide at Auckland on Monday by shooting himself with a revolver in the head. The bullet entered the right temple. He was taken to the hospital in a critical condition, When asked the reason for the act, he said he was tired of life. He has been in bad health, and lately took to drink. He died on Tuesday. Information was received at Dunedin railway station on Tuesday night by telegraph from Otepopo, that shortly after the Express passed through the tunnel there, the body of a man was found. He had been run over by the train, -He was a passenger by the Express train from
Oamaru to Port Chalmers. It is not known how he got out of the train. The body of a man was lounil in the bay at the foot of Hanover Street, Dunedin, on Monday morning. It was clad only in trousers, socks and a shirt, and has been identified as that of Mr William Frazer, a gentleman who arrived there in the ship Nelson, accompanied by a manservant, a fortnight ago. Mr Frazer had been drinking heavily since his arrival, and last Sunday evening he slipped unobserved out of the house in Leith Street, where he-resided, and had not. been heard of since. Mr Frazer formerly cai ried on a wine and spirit business at Brighton, Sussex, and was about thirty-five yeare of age. He leaves a wife and one child. At the inquest a verdict of found drownod was returned. Deceased had £4BO to his credit in the Bank.
