GERALDINE PUBLIC SCHOOL.

The usual monthly meeting of th« Committee of the above was held in the schoolroom on Wednesday evening last. Present—Messrs Pearpoint (Chairman), Farrell, Ward, Dunlop and A. Sherratt, The minutes’ of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. HEAD MASTER’S REPORT. , , s The Head Master’s report stated that the average attendance for the past month was 168. He asked for one ream of foolscap, to be used by the scholars in their fortnightly examination. He also requested that two poets might be supplied to him in the place of two old posts, in the division fence between his house and the school, which were rotten.—-Both requests were granted. VISITING COMMITTEE’S REPORT. Mr Dunlop stated that, in conjunction with Mr C. E. Sherratt, he had visited the school that day and found ev. ry thing working satisfactorily. VISITORS FOR THE MONTH’, Mr r. E. Sherratt and J. Cunningham were appointed visitor.' to the school for the ensuing month. MISCELLANEOUS. Some small accounts were passed for payment, ■The Chairman stated that a short whih j ago Mr Postlethwaite had informed him of Ids intention to present the Committee with the sum of £5, being part of his honorarium. Meeting him afterwards, Mr Postlethwaito stated that believing the Committee to he in funds and the Literary Institute requiring assistance, he had supplemented his donation to the latter with the £5 he had originally intended to give to the School Committee. Under the circumstances he hoped the Committee would con;ur with what he had done. He (Mr Pearpoint) told him he was sure the Committee would do so. Proposed by Mr Farrell, seconded by Mr Ward, and carried—“ That Mr Postletiiwaite be thanked for having offered £5 to the Committee for school purposes, and ar, the same time concur in the action taken by him since in supplementing his donation to the Literary Institute by the said amount, instead of presenting it to the Committee.” The meeting then terminated.
