FRANCO-CHINESE WAR.

Hong Kong, August 24.

Intelligence to hand from Foo Chow shows that only one of the Chinese batteries by which the port was defended replied to the fire of the French fleet during the bombardment. It is reported that one of the French war vessels was sunk by the Chinese fire. A telegram from Tientsin announces that the French Charge-d’Affairs has left the town, but the Consul remains to watch the interests of the French residents. ;
