The police have discovered that some months ago she waseraployed in a hotel at Cambridge, Waikato. Amongst her effects a small bottle, of laudanum was found. A gentleman when talking to prisoner on Saturday night hoard a childr cry, and saw it move in her arms. This was at seven o’clock. At twonty-niue minutes past seven the prisoner was back at Wakeham’s, a good. ten minutes walk from Mason’s garden. The police theory consequently is that she buried it alive. The contents of the stomach of the infant were forwarded to Mr "Pond, district analyst, for analysis. The unfortunate accused • nOvv atates she was outrageously assaulted by Wilson, who hushed the case-up, by promising her T marriage. Early on Wednesday morning, before daybreak, a sheep train, proceeding from

Oram, formerly of the Royal Hotel, Christchurch. He died at Mideotner Norton on August 18th. A man named William Hadden haa died at Mount Eden gaol from the effects of excessive drinking. He had been drunk for a fortnight. The jury found a verdict of death from drink, and added a rider censuring the barman of ths Star Hotel, tOtahuhu, for supplying the de; cessed with drink when he was aware that lie could not take food.
