MOUNT PEEL ROAD BOARD.

The ordinary meeting of the Board was held in the Road Board Office, Peel Forest, on Friday, the 15th inst. Members present—Messrs R. Mackay, G. J. Dennistoun, and A. Hawden. Mr G. J. Denniatoun was voted to the chair.

The minutes of the lasi meeting were read and confirmed. The following coirespondence was read and considered : From the Commissioner of Crown Lands, Christchurch, in reference to the reserve at Raincliff Station, Middle fence, on the Kakahu and Burke’s Pass Road, stating that the piece of land referred to had not been reserved. The Clerk was instructed to reply, drawing the attention of the Commissioner to the procUmation in the Gazette of the 24th February, 1881, reserving the piece of land in question. From Mr "W. Moody, agent for the Sherwood Downs property, requesting certain repairs to be done upon the roads running through the estate. Resolved—“ That Mr Moody be informed that the Boards teams are now in that neighborhood, and that the work required will bo carried out as soon as the weather will admit of its being done.” From the Mackenzie County Council, enclosing a n account for the extension of the Fairlie Creek footbridge. The amount was passed for payment. From the Union Bank of Australia, Timaru, in reference to the Board’s fixed Deposit. Offers from several of the leading Nurserymen in the district for the supply of forest trees were considered, when, after a careful comparison of the prices quoted, it was resolved that the offer of Mr W. Wheelband be accepted. Resolved— ,f That application be made to have Reserve No. 2489, vested in the Board. „ , , Resolved—“ That tenders be called for painting the Opuha Bridge.” After passing accounts to the amount of £250 16s 7d, the Board adjourned.
