Elsmore, of Qrovesfcown, Blenheim, a blind organ-grinder, was charged at Nelson cn Wednesday <vith abusing his own daughter, a little over ten years old. Ho wa» committed for trial. Win. Linton, a young man aged 25 years,, died suddenly at,the Pier Hotel, Napier, on Wednesday morning. At the inquest a verdict was returned of det-th from consumption. At an inquest on the body of the man who died in the street at Auckland, a ver- f diet of death from pulmonary consumption was returned. He gave the name of Robert Nichols to the City Missionary, whilst a pawn ticket found on him was mane out iu .the name pf. Young.; The post mortem •zaiuinTition showed the stomach tola lly| empty ot food, and the body greatly emaciated. He has cince boeti identified' as Frederick Voting, $ painter and signwriter, of Dunedin. A man named Boyce was killed at Hellaby’s ,(Aiiokl,and) by a trolly on Wed-'* hesday last.' ;

Mr Andrew .Aitkenhead, a well-known farmer at Oamaru, was found dead in his bedroom on Thursday morliing.
