The Chairman stated that m accord ance wi; h resolutions passed during the last meeting he had written to the Secrrtary for copies of the Town Boards Act, to the Chairmen ot several Town Boards for copies of their 'by-laws ; to the Town Clerk at Timara for the s»me. The Chairman was requested to bc- *, knowledge receipt of same. < THE CLERKSHIP TO THE BOARD. Two applications for the office of clerk, overseer, etc., to the Board were received and opened. Propose by Mr Taylor, seconded by .Mr Dunlop, and carried—“ That Mr C. E. Sherratt be appointed Clerk and Overseer to the Board. The. specification of duties as drawn up to be duly ~ signed,” THE RESERVES. : ‘ On the suggestion of the Chairman it was proposed by Mr Mundell. seconded by Mr Farrell, and carried — “That a Committee consisting of Messrs Taylor, Maslin and Huffey be appointed for the purpose of ascertaining the number ot reserves within the area ' of the Town Board, and report at next meeting.” THE TREASURERBHIP. < It was proposed by Mr Dunlop, ■ v seconded, by Mr Farrell, and carried-? as specified to be performed by the Clerk, he be appointed Treasurer to the Board.” J MISCELLANEOUS. Proposed by Mr Mundell, seconded by ( Mr Taylor, and carried —“ ’i'bat the Clerk lie instructed to prepare the rate roll, at once.” Proposed by Mr Mundell, seconded by Taylor, and carried—‘‘That Messrs Maslin, Dunlop and the \.Chairman be appointed as a deputation to wait on the Geraldine Road Board to arrange matters as to the amount to be paid over to the Town Board, with full power to.act.” < Proposed by Mr Taylor, seconded by • • byV.Mr Mundell and carried —“ That .j. application be made to the Geraldine County Council as to the maintenance . p(tbe main road within the jurisdiction of the Town Board. A letter was received from the Secre- . .. tary to the Literary Institute, offering the use of the Committee room at a rental of 2s 6d - per meeting. The usual monthly meeting of the Geraldine School Committee was held in ; the schoolroom on Thursday evening last. Present —-Messrs Pearpoint "(Chairman), Farrell, C, B. Sherratt, . G. Ward, Dunlop and A. Sherratt, MINUTES. ' The minutes of tho previous meeting were read and confirmed. . CORRESPONDENCE. The following correspondence received was read : From the Board of Education, stating that the sura asked for (£4) on account ‘ of purchase of new stores for the schoolrooms had been authorised, and that th 6 , amount would be paid on the production of vouchers affirming the completion of the work. From the same, intimating that the sum of £ll 14s 8d had been placed to credit of Committee, being amount of incidentals for tho quarter. ACCOUNTS. • Accounts amounting ,to £5 4s fid were passed for payment VISITING COMMITTEE. « The -Chairman and .Mr A. Sherratt stated they had visited tho school on ‘ the previous./ Wednesday’,, and found everything working very satisfactorily, ■ The attendance on that day-was 169. HEAD MASTER’S REPORT. The report of the Read Master was read. It stated the average attendance for the past four weeks was 167, the attendance on the whole being good. He made application for a new lid for --desk in which, the sewing was kept.
