AUCTIONEERS’ 'REPORTS. TIMARU. Messrs Maclean and Stewart .repon for the past week ending Saturday as follows : Horses —A considerable improvement was noticeable at their sale of horses to-day at their yards, both in demand and in prices. This was mainly owing to the superior class of stock which came forward for sale, a large proportion of entries consisting of good useful sorts, such as any farmer may be tempted to buy, even though not in actual .need of them. The entries to-day consisted of 38 head, one half of which were good medium draughts, the remainder hack* and inferior kinds. They sold 20 head at from £lB 10s to £24 for good draughts ; £ll to £l6 for hacks and inferior harness; 4 unbroken draught colts sold at from £9 to £l2 10s each. They have also placed privately, for export, aeveral firstclass maresat good value*.

Sheep There is little to report on store sheep at present, there lining but few transactions taking place, and until winter is fairly over, they do not expect any better demand. Privately they sold 300 crossbred hoggets at a satisfactory price. Fat Sheep—As turnip and other fe d is now getting scarce, a good many lots of fat sheep are being disposed of, both locally and for shipment, the former marker being Represent the best, though, of supplied. They have placed privately several lines of 2-. tooth qrossbreds at prices nearly equal to 2-2(1 per lb., which they quote as the present value of prime mutton. ' .
