"Sir,—l have the honor to report for month ending July Bth, 18S4, as follows : " The works under contract, with one or two exceptions, have progressed favorably during the month. The following have be?n completed since last Board day :—Shingling Orari Gorge Road; repairs to Rao's road, Raukapuka Flat ; and Cooper's Cresk Bridga. " Goodwin's application, to form the road half a chain wide from the woolshed to Goodwin's section, would cost £ —. The track is not in bad order, but if not formed the large stones \TOuld require to be picked off as far as Edgar's Bush. " Willows at Sharp's Baidge.—-I have obtained a plan of the river terrace which proves the willows to be planted in the river-bed for a certain distance above the bridg". To grub them out and remove them would cost £ . I have also received payment for work done at this bridge. " Geraldine Traffic Bridge.—This bridge will require a new deck some time during the summer. I should advi«e that the timber be obtained now, bo that it cruld be stacked on the site near tbe bridge, and be partly seasoned before being laid down. I would rpcommend heart of black birch as the most suitable and durable timber for

decking. " The Hfle-hap-te-moana Junction Koad requires Bhiagling at the lower end below Wilcox's.

" Toomny's Biidgp.—lo erect a single plank lootway with wires at both Fides, similar to the bridge at Bradley's crossing over the same river, would C()8t £ . It would be quite useless to erect a bridge here unless it w<re kept above the highest flood level. The piles would consequently require to be 20ft

Jong. " .Shingle Reserve. —I should advise that explication he made for a gravel res , rvc on lot 39. near the settlement at Orari.
