SCHOOL COMMITTEES.
MILFORD. The monthly meeting of the Milford School Committee was held on Tuesday evening last. Present—Messrs Woodley (Chairman), Maze, Parke, Brown and'White. Mr Colville was elected to fill the vacancy in the Committee caused by Mr Cain leaving the district. The master’s report was read, which stated that the returns for the quarter showed the school was entitled to a pupil teacher. It was resolved that the Board be asked to appoint one. Several accounts were received, which it was decided should be held over till the next meeting, pending the receipt of the Board’s grant.’ A letter from Mr Yelviu (on behalf of the bachelors of Milford) was read, asking for the use of the schoolroom on the evening of Friday, the 4th. It was resolved to grant the request, subject to the usual rule?. The meeting then terminated.
WINCHESTER. The monthly meeting of above School Committee was held in the schoolroom on Friday, July 4th, Present Messrs B. Smith, W. Klee, W. Carston, P. Billings and J. Norfcham. In the absence of Mr Taylor, Mr R. Smith was voted to the chair. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. A telegram was received from the Board of Education, dated July 3rd, staling the school would be examined on the 4th, and a telegram was received later in the day slating that it was not necessary to examine the school just now. A bill was received from Mr H. A. Temperton for account rendered. Resolved — “ That Mr Temperton bo asked to send particulars and date of his account, as the present Committee does not know when it was contracted,” Proposed and carried —“That this Committee feels very great dissatisfaction at the Chairman in not forwarding the resolutions of this Committee to the Board of Education, as requested.” Proposed and carried unanimously—“ That as this Committee feels dissatisfied with the present teachers, the Board of Education be respectfully requested to * terminate their engagements the examination has taken place. Resolved —“ That the school break up for its winter holidays on Monday evening, 7th July, aud re-open on luesday morning, 16th July j ’ and “ That the .-chool be not let for any theatrical purr oses without the consent of four of the Committee meeting together and , being unanimous, the price to be
charged to be agreed on at the time of letting.” . The meeting then terminated.
