CHRISTCHURCH MARKETS.

At the Addington Yards on Wednesday the finq weather brought forward a larger supply of fat sheep than of late, the entries beiug principally of first-rate quality. Market began dull, improving a litfcle as it advanced, and for the best quality a slight improvement in values resulted. Medium and inferior sorts unaltered. Crossbrsd wethers fetched froin 14s to 19s ; do ewes, lis to 15s 6d ; merino wethers, from 8s 6d to 12s 9d, being at the rate of from 2d to 2|d per lb, according to quality. A few more sheep than usual were sent forward in the store sheep market. The enquiry was very dull, and prices offered very low. A line of two-tooth first-cross wethers sold at 9s 9d ; a line of four, six and eight-tooth quarterbied ewes, threequarter fat, at 9s 3d ; lines of threequarter fat, four and six-tooth crossbred wethers at 13s 3d, etc. In the pig market a heavy entry came to hand. Biddings were hardly so keen as of late. Porkers sold at from 27s 6d to 40s ; bacoDers, 45s to 645. But little was offered and doing in the store cattle market, prices remaining unaltered. Fat cattle—An average supply. Enquiry confined to local requirements, insufficient to absorb all that was offered. Steers sold up to £7 ; heifers, £6 12s 6d ; fat cows, £3 10s to £7 15s, at the rate of from 16s to 18a per lOOlbs.—Press.

CHRISTCHUROH COR* EXCHAJTGI. The Corn Exchange report for the week ending Friday evening, the 27th inst: — The grain market for tho past week has not been marked by any change of importance. The slight inquiry for sound wheat still continues, without however eliciting an advance in values, although the tone of the London market nppears somewhat stronger. Oats are a shade weaker in consequence of the low rates ruling for peas, beans and second-class barley. All other kinds of produce remain in tho same state as regards inquiries and values, as shown in last week's report. The following quotations are the latest to date : Wheat—Sound qualities of Tuscan, Pearl and Hunter's from 3s 3d, Ss 2d, and Sb Id respectively ; seconds, 2s 6d to 2s 9d. Oats—Prime bright milling, 2s 3jd ; bright short feed, 2s 2£d to 2s 3d. Tartars and Danish, la 30d to 2s ; inferior and discolored, Is 6d to Is 9d. Barlev—Prime malting, 4s ; second quality," 3s 3d to 3s 6d ; feed, 2s to 2s 3d. Peas—2s 9d to 3s, for good lound quality. Beans—2s 6d to 33, for good sound quality. Potatoes—27s 6d to 30s at country stations within twelve miles.

Butter and Cheese—7d to 8d for the former, and 4£d to 5d for the latter. The quotations given above are paid to farmers delivering f.o.b. at Lyttelton, excepting barley and potatoes. ENGLISH MARKETS, Lokdok, Judo 25. A further decline in the prices of colonial breadstuff's has occurred. Adelaide wheat ex store is now quoted at 40s, and New Zealand ditto at 34s to 40s. Adelaide flour, ex warehouse, 28s. Tallow—Australian, average quality, beef, 35a 6d ; mutton, 375. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, have received the following telegram from their London branch, dated 25th instant : Wool— Market unchanged. Wheat—Market quiet. The weather is favorable for the crop here. Adelaide is worth 41s 6d ; New Zealand, 40s, and Tuscan 42s per 4961bs ; Adelaide, f.a.q., is worth c.i.f , to arrive, 40s per 4801bs. Tallow is doll of sale. Market overstocked. Mutton is worth 365, and beef 358 6d per cwt. Leather—Market unchanged. Frozen meat—Market steady. Mutton, weighing per carcase 701bs to 751bs, i* worth s|d per lb.
