OUR CHEESE IN ENGLAND.

The Akaroa Mail says that " a shipment of cheese from the Peninsular, per the Doric, brought from 63s to 70s per crrt., and even the lowest of these prices is remunerative. The great price of 70s per cwt., realised by Mr B. Mora, is indeed a matter of congratulation, as it is equal to the highest sum brought at the Chester fair in April last. It shows that our produce can most favorably compete in open market with the best of the American product, and that it need not fear contrast with even the English article itself. It must be remembered this cheese was sold in open market by the ordiuary ckeose salesman. There were no friends to puff it, o? call special attention to its excellence, but it stood its chance in an open market, and owed its price to its intrinsic excellence. VVa take it that tho success of this shipment has practically established the much desired minimum price for cheese,

Henceforward whenever that product drops below a fair figure it will be shipped to England, and the spectre of over production is banished for ever." Mr Coltman, the Secretary to the Geraldine Dairy Factory, has received a letter from Messrs Bovrron Bros., of Woolston, to the pffect that they had received advices that a shipment of 14 tons of Ashburton cheeee had been disposed of in the Home market, realising 67s per cwt.
