Sir George Grey addressed a crowded and most enthusiastic audience at the Thames on Saturday night. The Mayor was in the chair. His speech was mainly devoted to replying to portions of the Premier's speech in tht same plaee last Tuesday. The meeting lasted two hours, and was all through in sympathy with Sir George. In addition in replying to the Premier, he gave the loading portions of his speeches as delivered in Auckhnd and elsewhere. At the close, the following iesolution was moved by Mr Speight and carried amid tremendous cheering : * That this meeting once more welcomes Sir George Grey to the Thames, thanks him for his address, and reioices to find him as able and as determined as ever to struggle in the intei eats of the great mass of the people against the jobbery and oppression of those who too long have ruled the destinies of the country.' The meeting broke up with cheers for Sir George Grey. The writ tor the East Coast was issued on Saturday morning, and waß telegraphed to Gisbome. Mr M. W. Green addressed his constituents at North Dunedin last Saturday night. He spoke strongly in f ayor of the nationalisation of the land. A vote ef confidence was passed, only three hands being held up against it, and an amendment in favor of a vote of thanks only was not seconded. Mr H. Feldwick, M.H.R. for Invercargill, addressed his constituents on Friday evening. He was well received. His speech contained nothing of special note. In answer to questions he affirmed himself a Protectionist. He would not interfere with the Education Act, but was in favor of grants to denominations for school purposes. A motion was proposed that a vote of thanks be tendered to the Member for his address, but an amendment that a vote of confidence be passed was declared carried en the voices. A large number abstained from voting.
