MOUNT PEEL ROAD BOARD.
The ordinary!montbly meeting of the Board was held in the Road Board Office, Peel bVest. on Friday, the 16th mst. Members Present—The Hon. J. B. A. Acland (Chairman), Messrs G. J. DennistouD, and A. Hawdon. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. TENDER. Only one tender w as received for No. 24 contract, which was declined, it being considered excessive. COKEESPONDENCE. The following correspondence was read and considered : From Mr F. W. Marchant, forwarding plan of the Road Board reserve at Fairlie Resolved- " That the plan be forwarded to the Commissioner of Crown Land* with an apolication that the land be granted to the Board under the 'Forest Trees Planting Act/' From Mr C. G. Trinp, flying for leave of absence till the October meeting. The request was granted. From the Geraldine 3o*d Board requesting information as to cost of breaking boulders into road metal by the atone crusher. The Overseer stated that he had supplied the information requested. From Thomas Blair preferring a claim for damages sustained by the capsizing of his waggon on the Peel Forest road caused by a culvert being left open. Resolved—' That as notice was given to the driver on his way up with the empty waggon that he would not be able to take a load over the place in question, the Board therefore considers that Mr Blair has no claim.'
Resolved—' That a bonus of £25 be paid to the Clerk and Overseer for the past year.' Accounts ta the amount of £4BO 8s 8d were passed for payment. The Board then adjourned.
