ENGLISH AND FOREIGN. London, May 13. The cricket match Australians v. Lord Sheffield’s Eleven was concluded at Sheffield to-day. The visitors, with four wickets down for 172 runs, resumed their first innings, which closed for a total of 212. The highest scorers to-day were Bannerman, caught, 94, and Blackham, bowled, 31. The Home team then commenced their second innings, and were all disposed of for 120, the visitors thus winning the match by an innings and 6 runs. The bowling of the Australians was dead on the wickets, which fell rapidly. The principal scorers were Grace, bowled, 30 ; Barnes, caught, 34 ; and Mycrolt, caught, 18. A serious panic haa occurred on the Stock Exchange and in commercial circles in this city m consequence of further failures of prominent business houses. Among the firms which have become insolvent is a private bank doing business on a large scale.
