Young, John Albert A POLL will be taken on FRIDA if, the 9th day of May inst., between the hours of 9 a.m. and 6 p.m,, for ELECTING TWO MEMBERS to serve on the above Road Board at the following places, viz., Road Board Office, Temuka (principal) Mechanics’ Institute, Winchester Schoolhouse, Rangitata South Schoolhouse, Waitohi. WM. WILLS, Returning Officer. Temuka, 6th May, 1884. myß TO THE TEMUKA ELECTORS. GENTLEMEN, —1 was called upon to give my views to-day at the Public Meeting, but did not feel inclined to express myself. I have now come to the conclusion that no particular explanation is required, further than that we want good roads and bridges to enable us to travel freely and easily, at the least cost to the ratepayers the rates for which it will necessarily be our lot to pay. Therefore I shall feel myself in duty bound to use my utmost endeavors to cause all moneys to be judiciously spent, if I am elected, and keep us under the least taxation. I cannot imagine ho.w money has been fairly spent by the Temuka Road Board since Mr Lewis was discharged. Ido not imagine for a moment that any member of the Board has neglected his duty as a member, but not one can see as far in business as Mr Quinn, who, in my opinion, should occupy the chair. If lam elected I shall do all in my power to remove the obstacle, and to do my duty to every ratepayer in the Temuka district, however small or great a rate he may pay. All men are the same to me, wheresoever they may come from. I am, Gentlemen, Your’s faithfully, HENRY NICHOLSON,' Sex. Temuka, May 6tb, 1884. myß PUBLIC NOTICE.
