TIMARU GRAIN MARKETS.
Messrs Jonas and Bourn report :—- Grain, etc.—Wheat is comiog forward freely, aDd the quality of the bulk is superior to what might have been expected from the unfavorable harvast weather that farmers experienced. The market remains unaltered, viz., 2s lOd to 3s Id per bushel. Oats, like wheat, are in good supply at former quotations—milling Is lOd to 2s, feed Is 8d to Is lOd. Barley of the best quality commands top prices, the bulk offering being of inferior quality and discolored, 2s 6d per bushel for the latter quality and 3s 6d for the former being ruling quotations.. Eyegrass seed, 2s to 2s 8d per bushel, but a shads more has been given for extra fine samples. AUSTRALIAN MARKETS. Sydney, May 2. New Zealapd wheat has advanced to 3s lOd. New Zealand oats have fallen to 2s lid. Maize is quoted at 6s 3d, an advance of 6d. Sugar Company's No. 1 pieces, per ton, are worth £34. Adelaide, May 2. Wheat remains at 3s lOd to 3s lid, nominal. The market continues flat. Flour, town brands, £9 10s; country ditto, £8 103 ; the market dull. .Freights to London, per sailing vessel, 35s to 40s. ENGLISH MARKETS. Lokdo]*, May 1. Tha stock of tallow in London to-day is 9300 casks.
Wool.—At to-day'* auction a steady tone prevailed. The demand was not active. 3500 bales have been withdrawn from sale since the opening of the series. May 2. The breadstuffs market is unchanged. Adelaide wheat, ex store, is worth 435, and New Zealand do 35s to 40s, Adelaide flour, ex store, is quoted at 28s. The tottl quantity of wheat afloat for Great Britain has increased from 2,080,000, to 2,220,000 quarters during the week. Australian tallow. Beef, average quality, has declined 6d per cwt, and ie now worth 365, while mutton remains at 395. Wool. Prices continue steady, but without active demand. The catalogue at to-day's auction comprised 10,000 bales. Crossbreds are firmer, and Fr»nch buyers are offering more freely. Prime New Zealand mutton is now selling at Cd.
