ROAD AND TOWN BOARDS.

TO Tttß IJDITOR Sir—l would not hare troubled you with a reply to " Anti-Parasite'i"second letter, but should have treated it with that contempt its author bo richly merits, were it Dot for the glaring untruths contained therein. He states that instead of explaining what I meant I launched out into a personal attack on bischaracter and that I evaded the question at issue. "Now, Sir, let any of your readers turn to my letter and they will there find this sentence :—" I did not mean that by establishing a Town Board for Geraldine it would do away with the Boad Board influence or interest in Woodbury, Hilton, Kakahu," etc. If that is not explaining, I do not understand the meaning of English language. He further on states I am running a candidate for the Road Board election, which iB likewise untrue. I have done no more than exercised a privilege which as a ratepayer I am entitled to, viz., to nominate a candidate —which " Anti-Parasite" and his clique have likewise done, which they had perfect right to. But why, Mr Editor, should they claim a privilege which ther would deny to me ? The answer is cbvions. In concluding he says he objects to my inferences. Let me tell him if a huntsman wishes not to be known he should not wear a pcarlet coat. He says

if he had signed, himself a fool, Bhould I conclude I was wise? I answer, no. Neither should I have replied to his letter, for hj thn.« signing his own name I should have left him to the judgment of your readers. He also says, Mr Coltman does not always sign his own name to his letters. Another untruth, fcr if " Anti-Parasite" can prove that I either wrote or published a letter without signing my name, previous to the publication of his second letter, I will give five pounds to any charitable institution he likes to mention.—l am, etc., * Wm. Coltman. Geraldine, May 5, 1884.
