This was the most exciting race of the day. Nine horses started. The first jump was the double over the road, which all negotiated successfully. Oh reaching the park fence Pawn and Karearea, the second and third horses, refused, aud were withdrawn. The stone wall opposite the Stand was taken as followsßarbary, Encore, Bonn, Clarence, Black Doctor, and Agent. The doubles and gurse fences in the paddocks were once more passed without mishap. Barbary, Bona, Clarence and Encore first appeared inside the reserve, while The Agent aud Black Doctor were but a length behind them. On again coming to the park fence Luna was seen to pull Clarence up, something having gone wrong when crossing the stone wall. Barbary who was leading fell at the third jump from home and was out of the race. Agent, and Black Doctor now raced side by side, but The Agent managed to get in first by half a neck.
