AUCTIONEERS’ REPORTS. TIMAKU. Messrs Maclean and Stewart report for the past week ending; Saturday as follows : Horses—Over 60 horses were to day booked at their yards for sale, a considerable portion of which were good draught mares and geldings, and the balance light harness horses and ordinary hacks. They report an increased animation in the trade, and a ranch better demand for the best class of horses. Prices, however, remain much the same, and do not show much sign of improvement. A first-class gelding brought to-day L4l, and he was cheap at that figure. A good number brought from LlB to L 27. Medium sorts found buyers at from Ll 4 to Li 7 ; light and inferior sorts from Lit) to Ll 6. Ac the above quotations they placed 23 bead, Sheep—A good many lots of sheep have changed hands during the week, and there is a good enquiry, both for breeding sheep and for those suitable for feeding off, They have bad no auction sales of importance during the week, but have sold privately 600 merino wethers and 400 merino ewes at satisfactory prices. Fat sheep—Present values are from 2-|d to 2|d per lb. At these quotations they have placed several small lines. Cattle —The demand for store cattle at present is dull, and there are few lots changing hands. They have no transactions to report. Fat cattle—Value per lOOlbs may be quoted at about 17s 6d. ENGLISH MARKETS. London, April 21. Adelaide wheat has declined to 42s px store. New Zealand do remains at 35s to 4Cs. Adelaide flour ex store is worth 28s. Australian tallow, average quality— Beef, 37s ; mutton, 40s.
