POLITICAL.
The Premier leaves for Dunedin on Friday next, and speaks there next Wednesday. The Minister of Justice addresses hie constituents at Picton on Tuesday next. Mr Dobson, M.HR., addressed his constituents at Blenheim on Wednesday night. He intimated his intentio n to remain an independent member, and not to vote to turn out the present Ministry. He condemned federation and the land tax. He intimated his intention to still support the Catholic claims In education matters, and advocated Civil Service reform, especially in the Post and Telegraph Departments, He supported the reform of the Upper House, but not an elective chamber under the Hare system, and he was in favor of the Settled Lands Bill and Married Women’s Property Bill.
