The last race ran at Woodbuiy on Easter Monday was the Consolation Handicap, of 6 sovs., for all beaten horses at thit meeting. Distance one mile. Entrance 10s. Mr W. E. Heatley'K Ladybird ... 1 Mr J. Mathews's Forsaken 2

Oaly two other horses started. From the start it was seen that Ladybird was too much for the filly.

A general more was now made for home, and soon the paddock resumed its usual quietude. Everything passed off most satisfactorily during the day, and it is estimated that at least there were 400 persons on the ground. The weather cleared up during the afternoon, and an almost cloudless Bky canopied the scsne. Mr W. Emmereon Heatiey acted as Secretary in a rery efficient manner, and we have to thank him for his courtesy towards us in imparting information when required. Prior to the Band returning to Geraldine it played a few pieces of music outside the Woodbury Hotel, and was much appreciated. At 7 o'clock in the evening the Stewards met to consider Mr D. Denoon's protest against Mr J. Mathews's Tongariro, the winner of the Cup, as mentioned in our last issue. After due deliberation the protest was upheld, and Mr D, Denoon's Vinco declared the winner. The Ball.

In the evening the first annual race ball came off in the schoolroom, which was well attended, and dancing was kept np with considerable spirit till near daylight on the following morning. Mr A. Fergusson acted as M.C., and Messrs Eaton and Heney were the musicians.
