ENGLISH AND FOREIGN. London, March, 18. The cargo of the steamship Aorangi, from New Zealand, consisting of about 12,000 carcases of mutton, arrived in good condition. The first portion was sold to-day at per lb. It is rumoured that Prince Napoleon has issued a manifesto, and fled to Switzerland. The French will probably seize a large portion of Chinese territory pending the payment of a heavy war indemnity. March 19. Mr Parcels (sic) speaking at Edinburgh, said the federation of the Australian Colonies was impossible without the establishment of a Parliament similar to the Dominion Parliament of Canada, the existing Colonial Legislatures continuing to legislate on local affairs. The French intend to occupy the islands of Obusla and Jerisb, situated in the Red Sea. March 20, Mr Gladstone is recovering from his recent indisposition, and has left London for the country. The Messrs Redmond have complained to the Irish League of the bitter attacks that have been made by the colonial press. The Orangemen attribute the success of the Redmonds to the support which they received from the Bishops. The flight of Prince Napoleon to Switzerland is unconfirmed. Vienna, March 18. The Imperial Austrian authorities have addressed a formal protest to the Swiss Federal Government, complaining of countenance which is being given by the Republic to the anarchist conspirators, who are permitted to find an asylum, and carry out their intrigues in the Swiss territory, Madrid, March 18. Three General officers have been placed under arrest for complicity in the recent discovered military conspiracy. Paris, March 18. Official despatches from Tonquin state that the Chinese troops have been utterly routed at all points, and that General Millot is not returning to Hanoi, having established a line of outposts in the neighborhood ofßacninh, wbic is now occupied by a French garrison.
