A VINDICATION.

TO THE EDITOR Sir, —I see by your paper of the 18th March, 1884, re holiday on St. Patrick’s Day, it is stated that all the storekeepers of Temuka agreed to close except Mr J. Brown. Now, sir, as far as Mr Brown is concerned he has, for the time I have known him, always been quite willing to give bis employees a holiday, but he does not believe in other storekeepers axowedly in favor of such having 1 their back premises open for the sale of goods, when the same has been arranged as a holiday.—l am, etc., Old Employee. Temuka, March 18th, 1884, [lf Mr Brown has entered into compacts on previous occasions and they were not adhered to, he was certainly justified in declining to enter into any such arrangement on St, Patrick’s Day.— The Editor.]
