AUCTIONEERS’ REPORTS. TIMARU. Messrs Maclean and Stewart report for the week ending Saturday last as follows Horses—About 60 draught and light harness horses and hacks were to-day entered at their yards for sale. A large portion of these were really first class mares and geldings. They regret to report a very dull sale, and but few lots found buyers. Although there was a large attendance of farmers and others, there seemed to be but few who wanted to buy, as owners were prepared to accept reasonable prices. They quote good draughts at from L 26 to L 32, medium sorts, from LlB to L 24; light harness horses and hacks, from L 8 to LI 4. At above quotations they to-day sold about 15 head. Sheep—-There has not been much business done ir store sheep during the week, and there is but little alteration in values. At the Washdyke yards last Tuesday, sundiy farmers’ lots were booked, and found buyers as follows : 200 cross bred lambs at 9s Id. They have also placed privately during the week several lines of merino wethers at satisfactory prices ; also a mob of about 600 cross-bred ewes with lambs. Fat Sheep—Present value of prime mutton may be quoted at 8d per lb. They have sold several small mobs at this quotation. Cattle—Prices of store cattle are much the same as when they last reported. An average entry was made at the Washdyke yards last Tuesday, and several small lots found buyers. Good steers and heifers, L 3 to L 4 15s ; cows, L2 to L 4 ; calves, 20s to 30s, Privately they have sold a mixed mob consisting of 50 head (extra good) at a satisfactory figure. Fat Cattle—They quote prime beef at a shade under 20s per 1001 b. Several small lines were quitted at the Washdyke last Tuesday at that quotation. ENGLISH MARKETS. London, Jan. 18. Adelaide wheat, ex store, remains at 445, and New New Zealand do, at 36s to 425. Adelaide flour, ex store, 31s, The total quantity of wheat afloat for Great Britain is 1,880,000 quarters. The wool market is dull. New arrivals to date for first series of auctions now amount to 100,000 bales.
