A WIFE OUT OF TOWN.
Of all the insidious Temptations invidious, Contrived for the purpose of pulling men down, There’s none more delusive, Seductive, abusive, Than the snare to a man with a wife out of town. He feels such a delightfulness, Stay-out-all-nightfulness, I own it with pain ! A bachelor rakishness, What-will-you takishness, Next day’s headaoheishness None can explain! His wife may be beautiful, Tender and dutiful, ’Tis not that her absence would cause him delight; But the dire opportunity, Baleful immunity, Scatters his scruples as day scatters night. He feels whiskey and-waterful Rapine and slaughterful, Notning-he-ougbt-to-ful To bis toes’ ends ; So baohelor-rally-spme, Quite corps du-ballet some, Make storiea-tally some, With friends.
