N.Z.S. Company. —The New Zealand Ship* ping Company has declared an interim diri dend fer the half year of 10 percent, payable on the 31st inst.

Annual Pabish Festival and Sunday School Tbbat. —To-day thi* annually recurring treat in connection with St Mary’s parish, Geraldine, will take place in the park and a thorough day’s enjoyment is anticipated. The Bubglaby at Waitohi.—At the R.M. Court, Temuka, on Tuesday last, Samuel Kirkpatrick was charged, before A. M. Clark, Esq., J.P., with burglary at Waitohi, and remanded till Monday next.

Gkealdinh Dairy Pacxoey Company.— The Chairman of the Directors of this Company announces in our advertising columns that owing to Mr J. Y. Ward resigning the Secretaryship, Mr W. Coltman, sonr., has been appointed in bis stead.

The Child Muedbb Case at Wellington.—At the Supreme Court, Wellington, on Tuesday last, the jury brought in a verdict of “ Not guilty, with a plea of insanity.’’ His Honour ordered the prisoner to bo kept in strict custody until the Colonial Secretary’s pleasure should be known. Ckickbt. —The interprovincial Cricket match, Wellington r. Canterbury, concluded on Tuesday. Canterbury made 137 in the first innings and 157 in the second. Wellington made 132 in the first innings and 147 in the second innings. Canterbury therefore won by 15 runs. Donald Dinnie.— The latest with regard to Donald Dinnie is that he is likely to permanently settle in Dunedin. Ho has deposited £25 towards a match with Matheson at hammer-throwing, and he challenges HucUon, the wrestler, to mebt him in fire styles of wrestling. The Weather,— On (Monday last, a fine summer’s day was experienced in this district, haring a very beneficial effect on the crops. Tuesday morning was very hot and sultry, but towards noon a nor’-wester set in, and about dusk a heavy thunderstorm broke orer the district, accompanied by rain. Rain fell intermittently all night. The thermo meter in tbs shade during the afternoon stood at 95 deg. Fahr.

Thb PbKSBTTBEIAN SoiBBH AlfD CONOBBT. —Wo would again remind our readers that the above soiree takes place to-night in the Temuka Volunteer Hall. It is needless for us to say anything as to the merits of the tea that will bo provided. As for the concert, the programme is published elsewhere, and speaks for itself. It is one of the most popu'ar ones ever published in Temuka and should satisfy everyone. With fine weather there will no doubt be a great attendance. Thb Q-ebaldihh Romak Catholic Chubch. —The Roman Catholics have got at last what they have long been . anxious to secure—a resident Priest. We hope they will exert themselves now to build for him a suitable residence, as it is indispensable that they should do so. A meeting for the pur pose of taking the necessary steps to do so will be hold shortly, and it is desirable that they shou d show their earnestness by contributing liberally. Father Keane has armed in Geraldine and will officiate in the church there next «uhday.

Resident Magistrate’s Court, GeraiDIWH. —The usual monthly sitting of thi 8 Court will take place to-day, commencing at ten a.m.

Woodteab’s Circus.—Last evening Woodyear’s Circus paid its return visit to Temuka, and wa were glad to see a fair audience. The programme gone through was a good one. The clowns wore inimitable and created much laughter. The horse riding and tumbling were first class. The dogs went through some very clover tricks as also did the horses. The feats performed on the trapeze were splendid, , and the music was appropriate., The amusements were kept going all the time, and altogether a most enjoyable time was spent by those who attended. The circus will perform in Geraldine on the ground opposite the Geraldine Hotel this evening; and should the weather prove favourable a large gathering, from all parts of the district may be expected. I’emuea Dairy Factory.—A meeting of the Directors of the above Company was held on Tuesday evening last. Present—Messrs Jas G-nild (Chairman), Gray, Austin, R. H. Postlethwaite, and R. A. Barker. The Secretary reported the purchase of 14232 gallons 9lbs. of milk daring the past month, at a cost of £237 4s 4d; also the purchase of 105 pigs at a cost of £ll6 3s 6d. Several shareholders not having taken any notice of the applications made to them for payment of call?, it was decided to give them a final notice and then place the accounts in the hands of the Company's solicitor. Accounts were passed amountiag to £l9O 14s lid. It was resolved to sell cheese during the month at a price fixed, and the Secretary was instructed to write to a number of merchants informing them of the fact. It was decided to close the share ’ist one month front date. The Secretary re ceived instruct ions to deal with due calls on shares as contra accounts when paying for milk supplied.
