AUCTIONEERS' REPORTS

CHKISTCHtTKCH. Messrs Robert Wilkin and Co. report : At the Add ington Yards, on Wednesday, owing to their being no sale in Christmas week, a large entry of sheep came forward. Iu fat cattle only a small entry came to band, a few pens of which comprised prime and good quality sorts. The biddings were fairly animated, and best quality sold at an average of 22s per 100!b. We 3old on account of several clients a line of about 600 four-tooth cross-bred wethers at 18s, dicto ewes from 13s to 15s 9d ; fat lambs, from 9s 9d to 10s 9d ; fat heifers, from £4 12s fid to £5 ss.

Sheepskins, Fat, Hides, etc.—We held our usual weekly sale by auction of the above, at which there was a large attendance of buyers and keen competition for all lots offered. Our catalogue comprised 2760 skins of country merinos, crossbreds, butchers' pelts, lambskins, etc., and (iS bags fat, and being of better quality than tboss offered last week, itstched proportionately higher prices. The following is a detailed statement of our sale -.—Crossbreds from 8d to 4s Id ; merinos, from Is 3d to 4s 4d ; dry pelts, from Id to 5d ; butchers' do, from 6d to lid ; lambs, from 6d to la 3d. Fat from 2£d to 3fd. o. CHEISTOHUECH CORjN EXCHANGE. The Corn Exchange report for the week ending Friday evening, the 4tjj inst : There has been a complete stagnation in the grain market during the past week, holiday making engaging the greater part of the attention of dealers. Transactions have been confined principally to completing oiders in hand. The weather still continues so unsettled that the ultimate results of harvest are very problematical. The crops, however, up to the present promise by their appearance a bountiful supply of cereals, although farmers anticipate gathering fully three weeks later. The crop of cocksfoot on the peninsula is exceptionally good, and given good weather should be highly satisfactory to growers, the probable opening price being 4d per lbf.o.b. The latest quotations are ; Wheat—Sound milling, 3s lOd to 4s 2d per bushel f.o.b. ; second quality, 3s 3d to 3s 8d ; chickwheat, Is lOd to 2s per bushel.

Oats—Prime milling, 2s Id to 2s 2d per bushel f.o b. ; bright short feed, Is lid to 3s ; inferior and discolored, la 8d to Is lOd per bushel. Barley—Fust-class malting, 4s to 4a 3d per luisliel ; second quality, 3s 3d to33Gd; feed, Is lOd to 2s per bushel.

C-ieese and Butter—4|d to 5d for the former, and 6Ad to 7d for the latter (kegs eitr.i).

The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company (limited) have resumed their series of wool auctions after the holidays. The catalogue today comprised 4000 bales, tie bulk consisting of small parcels of medium to inferior wtol. There wss a very large atttmdaucj of buyers, and brisk competition was experienced. Choice and medium wools were in good deni.'n', and prices firmly maintained.
