The Temuka Leader THURSDAY, JANUARY 3, 1884. THE REFRIGERATING COMPANY.

We learn from a private source that a general meeting of the shareholders of the South Canterbury Refrigerating Company is convened for next Saturday in Messrs Maclean and Stewart’s rooms Timaru. The meeting is to be held in obedience to a requisition signed and forwarded to the directors, and the object in view is to reconsider the question of site and other matters. It is rather satisfactory to find that Saturday has been selected this time, and it is to be hoped that no more tricks will be resorted to. We are credibly informed that the cost of pumping water, etc., on the site selected by the directors, would amount to £ICOO a year more than if the Wasbdyke had been chosen. This is a very serious matter, if true, and we have every reason to believe it is. Such a sum would be very goods profits on the year operations—it would amount to close on ten per cent on the capital of Ihe Company, and ought in no way to be despised. Wo have so frequently urged this matter on the attention of shareholders from this district that we deem it unnecessary to repeat now what we have ao frequently said already. We may, however, say that it is desirable that every shareholder from this side of Timaru should attend next Saturday’s meeting, ascertain the real facts of the case, and vote as they think best calculated to advance the interests of the Company.
