The report of Messrs Barker and Kay» hurst, the sub-Committee appointed to view sites, was read and discussed. It was agreed that (he site offered by Mr Jiimps Austin was the most suitnble'of (hose reported upon, although inconveniently distfint from Temuka, but as several more sites hud been offered since the lust meeting it was decided to postpone tli« consideration, to give the subcommittee time to ascertain particulars of then) and of others that might be offered within the next few days. It was shown by the Chairman that a water power, although advantageous, was not indispensab'e, as if steam were used it would be useful in more ways than as'a motive power, as by raising the temperature of the netting pits witli steam pipes, the Company would be able to ret in winter, if necessary. The Secretary was instructed to write to Messrs Booth and McDonald and order a set of breaking rollers and scutching stocks, and to call the next meeting in a fortnight from date, at which the question of sites would be fully discussed, and the Chairman would bring. forward all the information he could obtain with reference to spinning machinery* The meeting then terminated.'
