[Before D. In wood and !«'. H. Barker, Esq's., J.Fs.] ABUSIVE LANGUAGE!. George Latimer did not appear when charged with having made use of abusive language and a warrant was issued for his apprehension. ASSAULT. Robert Kelly was charged with having assaulted I. 6. Mendelson in his own shop, on Friday last, I. B. Mendelson: On the 16th inst the accused came up as I was sweeping the front of my shop and said ' Hallo, you ! I'll kill all the Jews in the country. I killed one in Ashburton.' I went in and he followed me. Mr J. Heap came in for me to cut his hair. While I was cutting Mr Heap's hair the recused struck me often in the ribs. When Mr Heap went out he struck me several times, and I jot hold ot him and kept him until the police caiae,
Constable Morton said there many previous convictions against him, ranging from 5s to L 5.
The accused : I was never fined L 5 I was never fined more than LI,
Ihe Bench said the record against the prisoner was a very bad one, In reply to the Bench, Constable Morton said the accused bad a wife and a family of seven children, The Bench decided to send him to gaol for one week and fine him lis costs. CIVIL OASES. Judgment by default was given in the following cases :- W. Hopkinson v; B, Wilson—Claim L 6 12s 9d ; J. Craig v. D Heffernan— Claim hi 14s. The Court then rose.
