NEW ZEALAND PRODUCE MARKETS.

The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, reports as follows : WOOL, Priced catalogues of the AugustOctober series of sales in London have reached us down to sth September. These fully confirm the cable advices received at that time, announcing a material decline in the value of coarse crossbreds And faulty wools, of all descriptions. They also show that the finest merinos of New Zealand growth were not realising within to Id of the prices obtained for the same brands of the previous clip, One satisfactory feature of the catalogue is the firmess displayed in the market for fine half and quarter-breds. These appear to be well competed for, and maintain a relatively high position.

Auckland.— A few small lots to hand have realised 4|d to 5d per lb. Timaru.—The clip is now coming to hand, and quantity and quality both promise to be above the average.

Wellington. —At the auction on the 3rd inst. we sold a tew bales of greasy crossbred, at prices varying trom 4|d to s|d for crossbred locks and pieces.

SHEEPSKINS.

Dunedin. Considering the additional month’s growth of wool, present prices for butchers’ green skins do not show much improvement on values last quoted. The demand is fairly active, and all coming forward find buyers at our weekly sales at for butchers’ green crossbreds, 3s 5d to ss; ditto merino, 3s 9d to 4s 8d ; green pelts, 5d to 6d, and lambskins, 6d to 9d.

Christchurch. The attendance at the weekly auctions has not been up to the average, and a few minor failures in the fellmongery business, together with unsatisfactory returns of shipments, have engendered a policy of caution on the part of the trade, resulting in a lowering of rates. The advance recorded last month has been quite lost as regards crossbreds, but merino skins are well competed foryand maintain their value. We quote crossbreds, 4s lOd to 5s 6d ; merinos, 5s to 5s 9d ; pelts, 8d to 10d; and lambskins, 6d to 9d, Timaru. These continue in fair supply, and meet with ready tale, at

prices satisfactory to producers. We quote butchers’ green crossbreds, 4s to 4s 4d ; ditto halfbreds, 4s 6d to 4s lOd ; ditto merinos, 4s 6d to ss; lambskins, lOd. GRAIN.
