AUCTIONEERS' REPORTS

OHEISTCHTJRCH,

Messrs Robert Wilkin and Co.- report : At the Addington yards on Wednesday, 5080 sheep, 522 head of cattle and 169 pigs were penned for the week's supply. Fat sheep—A good supply offered, principally prime sorts, for which the competition was again keen, and the various drafts found buyers at an advance on last week's prices. Several drafts of ewes rrith lambs at foot also met ready sales at satisfactory rates to vendors, while the supply of fat lambs was in excess of the requirements of the trade. In iat cattle the supply was above the usual average. Prime lots sold from LlO 2s 6d to Lll ss. and prime merino wethers at 17s and 16s 5d each. Fat lambs from 6s 3d to 8s 6d, according to quality. On account of Tarious owners : —Fat catlle at late rates ; pigs from 24s to 37s 6d.

1 Sheepskins, Hides, Fat and Tallow— An average supply came forward for our usual Thursday's sale, which we disposed of at prices slightly better than last week's rates. Coarse crossbreds remain at very low rates, and we find it extremely difficult to dispose of this class of skin at anything like prices we obtained a few weeks ago. Butchers' crossbreds and merinos maintain their late values. We catalogued 1987 sheepskins, 57 bags fat, 103 hides, and 22 bags pelts, Country crossbred? sold at Is 6d, 2s, 2s 3d, 2s 9d, 3s 6d, 3s lid, 4s 6d to 4s 9.1 ; country merinos, Is sd, 2s, 2s 10,1, 3s 7d, 4s 4d, 5s to 5s 5d ; butchers' crossbredß, 4s 2d, 4s 7d, 4s 9d, 4s lid, 5s 2d to 5s 6d, Mr J. Rosewarne's skins reaching the latter price ; butchers' merinos, 4s sd, 4s lOd, 5s 2d ; and two lines owned respectively by Mr C. Dearing and Mr A. fi. Tutton were disposed of at 5»7d. Fat— We cleared out at from l|d for inferior, Up to 2|d per lb for dry from the country. Hides—Green 3£d, wet salted dry salted 3|d, cut and damaged 2£d ; calfskins, 3£d ; pelts reached up 4s 3d per dozen lor clean and well limed, and for seconds Is to 2s 9d per dozen,

The Corn Exchange report for the week ending Friday evening, the 26th inet.:—

The prevailing depression continues to affect the grain trade to some extent, sales made being of little importance, with a difficulty in maintaining prices. Values range much the same as duriug last week.

Wheat—Sound milling, 3s 9d to 4s per bushel, delivered at (Jhristctiurch ; second quality, 3s 3d to 3s 6d ; chick wheat, Is lOd to 2s 3d per bushel... Oats—Prime milling, 2s Id to 2s 2d per bushel f.0.b.; bright short feed, Is lid to 2s ; inferior and discolored, Is 8d to Is lOd per bushel. Barley—First-class malting, 4s 3d to to 4s 6d per bushel ; second quality, 3s 6d to 3s 9d per bushel ; feed, Is lid to 2s 2d.

Grass Seed—Farmers' samples, 3s 3d to 3s £M per bushel ; machine dressed, 4s to 4s 3d p6r bushel ; cocksfoot, 4ld to 4§d per lb.

Potatoes—2ss to 27s 6d at country

stations.

Cheese and Butter— to 5d for the former, and 7d to 7£d for the latter.

AUSTRALIAN MARKETS.

Melbourne, Oct. 24.

At their wool sales to-day, Messrs Goldsbro' and Co. (limited) catalogued 4500 bales, of which 3500 were sold, and realised full prices. Greasy wool brought up to 13d, and scoured 21J per lb, There was a large attendance of buyers, and brisk competition was experienced.

Oct. 25. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limit'd, held their second wool sale of the season to-day. The catalogue comprised 2020 bales, of which 1990 wera sold at very especially prices, the American buyers especially competing for the better sorts with much spirit. A firm rate is now established for good wools,
