THE INSULT TO THE KING OF SPAIN.
Late cablegrams from London contain the following in reference to the hissing of King Alfonso in Paris by the mob: — London, Oct. 2. The indignation aroused in Madrid by the insolence of the French towards King Alfonso has not moderated, and a strong guard is still mounted at the .French.. Eimbassy to prevent violence there. M. Wilson, son-in-law of M. Grevy, the President of the French Re public, is Accused of having incited the mob to insult King Alfonso. The Emperor William of Germany has telegraphed to King Alfonso of Spain sympathising with him upon the treatnicnt which he received in 'Paris The Emperor expresses his belief that the insult was intended for Germany, through the King having accepted an honorary colonelcy in a German regiment. Although the cause of the indignities to which King Alfonso was subjected in Paris was his having accepted an honorary colonelcy in a regiment of German Uhlans, Germany has hitherto taken no action in the matter.
