REQUIRING ATTENTION.
’ TO THE EDITOR. * Sib,—On the evening of one of the recent race days I paid a visit to the township of .Getaldine, ’of which I had in my travels heard so much. En route I came up to a river bed, and noticed several persons wading through J two of the streams on account of there being no bridge whereby they t'could cross dry footed. On looking round me I saw a long footbridge situate in the centre of the river bed, high and;dry, and on making inquiries learnt that the river hod changed its course, the main stream being at tho eastern, end of the bridge and a lesser one at the western. Both of these were consider* ably swollen with recentjrains. I asked *-Wk>' erected, the bridge ?’ and was informed that the Geraldine Road Board had dene no some years ago, but had since taken no step* to erect a small footbridge across tbeplaces where the river now runs. Would it not be as well, Sir, for the Road Board to set to work at once and either lengthen the present bridge, (which in its present condition is perfectly useless,) or erect two, j smaller ones. ' The roadway from; Orari f toi!G«al* dine ii in splendid condition, and it ira pity that the Board should have overlooked the streams of that part of it known as 1 * Peckham’s , r . fluting on my next, visit to ace this . matter rerafldi9d.-7-i . a h l > ate., a Visitor.
