AUSTRALIAN MARKETS.
Melbourne, Get. 2. The Melbourne Manager of the National Mortgage and Agency Company of New Zealand, Limited, reports of the local grain market as follows: Wheat is quieter but steadier at 4S 8d to 4s 9d ; malting barley, 5s to 6s 2d, quotations nominal. Now Zealand oats are in fair demand at 3s to 3s Id for feeding, and 3s 2d to 3s 3d for milling qualities ; New Zealand, under bond, 2s 2d to 2s sd. ENGLISH MARKETS. London, Sept. 29. Wool continues firm, • At yesterday’s and to day’s auctions 17,000 bales were catalogued. Since the opening of the series 40,500 bales have been withdrawn from sale. Later. At the wool sales, 275,000 bales have been catalogued, and 43,000 withdrawn. The foreign demand is increased, and a prices are firmer.: Oct. 1, The wheat market is unchanged. Adelaide, ex store* is worth 45s 6d and New Zealand do 40s to 44s."'' Adelaide flour, ex warehouse, is quoted at 335. The total stock of tallow in London to-day is 9800 casks. Australian is worth, for best beef, 40s, and best mutton 41s. .
