TIMARU HORSE PARADE.

The annual parade of entire horses held in Timaru last Saturday was a failure. Only 19 horses were paraded as against 35 horaes on the previous year, and the attendance of spectators was equally meagre. It is not our intention to go fully into a report of the parade as we shall have the same horses exhibited in Temuka to-day, and it will fall to our lot to give a full description of them. We may however state that the horses from this district were certainly the best on the ground. Mr R Matthews's two draught horses. Young Wellington and Strathmore, were superior in every respect, lhe only horses that came any way near them were Mr Studholme's Time o'Day, Mr bulli'van's Young Conqueror, and Mr K Davie's Lucks All. A two-year-old colt belonging to Mr Evans, by Young Banker, also gives promise of turnrng out a good horse. Mr Pearpoints two thoroughbred horses, Daniel O'Rorke and Jangler, were very rough, their grooming evidently having been neglected. With this exception Daniel O'Rorke was as handsome as ever, and there was no horse on the ground that showed so much life as Jangler. Mr A Matthews's Betrayer also showed well. Mr J Brosnahan's Young Castaway ia a very handsome three-year-old, but'he ought not to have been classed as a thoroughbred. He certainly ought to produce splendid carriage horses. Mr Thompson's Cotherstone was in yory good condition, and ought to make a grand sire for carriage horses. Almost every horse entered was offered for sale by Messrs Maclean and Stewart, but not one of them was sold. , The following were entered, but the two ponies were not shown :
