The Hon Major Atkinson then moved that tlie Order bedischarged. Mr Dargaville thought it' would be better to admit reporters to Committee sittings,, as ih\that case they would be sure to get correct reports, and not the garbled they now got. \,
JVr,r,Turnbull concurred in this opinion. Sir G. Grey moved as an amendment -i.' That the Press be admitted to CoramitleSsittings, except when deliberating Ot when specially ordered to withdraw.' After a long and exciting debate an amendment was carried that the debate that'day six weeks.
The Native Lands Amendment Bill was further considered in Committee \Mfi tome amendments made. v.'kTbe following Bills were also passed ft&ongh Committee, reported with attendraonts, read a third time and j'assed:—Native Committees Bill, West Coast Settlement Reserves Act AmendBill, Volunteer Act 1881 Amendment Bill, Kawhia Townships Sale Bill, Auckland Hospital Reserves Bill.
The Counties Act 1876 Amendment Bill was also considered, and after progress was made and leave granted to ait ag"»in, the House rose at 12.45 a.m. In the Legislative Council on Saturday last.
The Guardian Trust and Executors Company Bill was read a third time and passed.,
Mr Reynolds introduced a Bill to amend the Lieensing Act, which was r<*ad a first time.
On the motion for the third reading of the Otago Harbor Board Bill, Dr Pollen moved its rpccmmital for further amendment, bat this was negatived after a long discussion by 23 votes to 11. The Auckltuid Loan Bill was passed through Committee and read a Ibird tinv\ On the motion of the Hon Mr Whitaker, it was agreed to sit on Monday, and the Council rose at 5 p.m.
