AUCTIONEERS' REPORTS. GBEALDINK. Messrs J, Mundell and Co, report sales of stock, etc., for the week ending Saturday, 25th August, 1883 : Stock business has been very quiet during the week. Privately we have sold a line of crossbred hoggets at 8s 6d ; also merino ewes, in lamb, at 7s. In cattle and horses we have not disposed of any since our last report. Properties—We submitted by Auction on account of the owners, a valuable propeity on Dr Fish's road, for which we had no offer ; also 54 acres of rural land on the Geraldine Downs, and the highestoffer obtainable was L 6 7s 6d per acre, at which price it was passed in to the vendor. We wish to draw attention to the next monthly stock sale, which will be held at the Geraldine Saleyards on Wednesday, sth September. From the entries already received, the sale will be a large one, TIMAHTJ. Messrs Maclean and Stewart report for the past week ending Saturday as follows ; Horses—A fair amount of business was done at their yards to-day, about 30 horses having been sold, being about one-half of the number offered at auction. For good sorts theie was an active enquiry, and prices realised very satisfactory, They quote prices current to-day at from L2C to L 35 for firstclass draughts ; from LlB to L 22 for medium sorts ; light horses and ordinary J,acks, L 8 to Ll 4. Sheep—They have no transactions to report during the week, and quote values somewhat the same as last week. Privately they sold a line of about 600 merino ewes at fair prices. Fat sheep are keeping in good demand, and as now the supply is becoming somewhat limited, they expect values will be maintained. They quote prime mutton at about Hd per lb.

Cattle—There is little business doing in store cattle, as on account of the scarcity of feed no one will venture to purchase. There are few good lots coming to market, values being the same as when they last reported. Fat cattle are rather bettor in prices, prima

25s per 1001 b. Skins, wool, tallow, bides, etc.— They held their usual fortnightly sale last Wednesday, and catalogued about 1000 skins, a few bags, etc., wool, tallow and hides. They have to report the prices ruling at last sales fully maintained, and in sonic cases an advance was made. They sold full-tvoolled green and cross-bred skins from 3s 6d to 4s 9d, tiie latter price be'ng got for a splendid line of half-breds ; medium skins from 2s 6d to 3s 4d ; odd bogs, mixed wool, from 4£d to 6£d per lb ; tallow and fat, from 2d to 2£d ; hides, from 3£d to 4|d per lb. AUSTRALIAN MARKETS. Sydney, Aug, 24. New Zealand wheat per bushel is quoted at 4s 3d ; New Zealand oats, 2s 4d ; maize, 2s 10d ; Sugar Company's No. 1 pieces, L 35 per ton. Adelaide, Aug. 24. Wheat remains at 5s to 5s Id, the market being quiet. Town flour petton is quoled at £ll 5s to £ll '.IOB, and for country brands, buyers at £lO ss, and sellers at £lO 10s per ton, The freight market is improving. ENGLISH MARKETS. London, Aug. 23. The wheat market continues quiet Adelaide, ex store, being worth 48s, and New Zealand do, 44s to 48s. Adelaide flour, ex warehouse, is quoted at 345. At the wool auction to-day 12,C00 bales were offered. A better demand was experienced for most descriptions. Since the opening of the present serieß 35,200 bales have been offered and 5100 withdrawn. Aug. 25. The wool sales are now progressing with more spirit than at first, and prices are hardening slightly. Merinos are now nearly equal to June rates, but faulty mediums, especially those from Sydney and Queensland, have declined a half-penny to a penny, and crossbreds are a half-penny lower. The catalogue comprises 58,000 bales, of which 7400 have been withdrawn. The sales close on 29th September.
