AUCTIONEERS.’ REPORTS. TIHABTT. Messrs Maclean and Stewart report for the past week ending Saturday as follows : Horses—At their yards to-day they are pleased to report a considerable improvement in the quality of the horse* entered for sale, and the price offered for these was in advance of last week’s quotations, They have also to repor the number of their entries much larger, over 60 having to-day been booked foi sale, and over half the number finding buyers at the following prices Good farm mares and geldings from L2O to L 32 ; medium sorts from L2O to L 26. The quality of the hacks and light harness horses is poor, and in con sequence these are go’ng at low figures, from L 8 to LI4. They have still orders for young mares air geldings for

shipment. Sheep—There was s better demand for sheep at last Washdyke sale, and a large entry was received. They booked and sold the following lines of store and fat sheep, viz., 1000 store merino wethers at 4s 2d, 600 merino ewes at 6s 3d, 100 fat merino wethers at 10s, and 100 fat crossbreds at 14s Bd. They quote prime mutton at from tc 2£d per lb. At Winchester last Thursday a small entry came to hand. They sold a small line of fat orossbrcds at 15s lid.

Cattle There is almost nothing doing in store cattle, and with the exception of a few odd lots, there are but few lots coming into market. At Washdyke last Monday they sol-1 a few cows, heifers, ami steers at from L2 5s to L 6, according to age, etc. Fa, cattle—They sold last Monday, at the Washdyke, the following line of cattle ; 5 steers at LS 15s, 4 steers at L 7 10s, 6 steers at L 7,1 heifer alt L 7 2a 6d, S heifers at L 5 10s. These, though not very heavy, were good quality , AUSTRALIAN MARKETS. Adelaide, Aug. 17, Wheat is quoted at 5s to 5s Id. The market in quiet, and nothing is doing. Town flour, per ton, is worth LI I ss, and country brands LlO ss. Sydney, Aug, 17, New Zealand wheat is worth 4s 3d per bushel; Sugar Company’s No. 1 pieces, per ton, L 35. ENGLISH MARKETS. London, Aug. 16. The wool market is quiet. The arrivals to date for the next series of sales now amount to 430,0C0 bales. ‘ Aug, 17. The colonial breads tufts market continue quiet at last quotations. Adelaide wheat, ex store, 48s; New Zealand wheat, ex store, 45s to 49s ; Adelaide flour, ex store, 84s, Australian tallow has advanced by 6d per cwt., best beef is quoted at 40s, and best mutton ill.
