GERALDINE SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

The monthly meeting of the Committee was held in the schoolroom on the 27th inst. Present—Messrs A. Rherratt (Chairman), W. C. Andrews, G. Ward, C. E. Sherratt, Mundell and Dunlop. The amended minutes of last meeting were read and confirmed,

The following correspondence was read and considered ;

From the Board of Education informing the Committee that in future the correspondence to the Board must be addressed to the Secretary instead of the Chairman of the Board. The Chairman stated that when lie was in Tiinaru he had obtained envelopes with the Secretary’s address thereon. The action of the Chairman was approved. From the same, informing the Committee that a grant of £l7 had been made for fencing and repairs to master’s house. Resolved— ‘ That the more urgent repairs be carried out to the extent of the extent of the Board’s grant.

Resolved- ‘ That the Chairman, and Messrs Mundell and Shi rs form a subcommittee to carry out repairs in accord ance with former resolution.’

The Visitors for the month reported they had gone over the school and found everything working very efficiently and satisfactorily, and recommending certain repairs. A letter from the Secretary of the Geraldine Brass Band, asking the use of the schoolroom, and offering to defray any reasonable cost of cleaning was read.

Resolved—‘That the band have the use of the schoolroom on condition that they become responsible for any damages done to the school and premises, pay foi cleaning, and leave all school furniture and school premises as they find it.’ The master reported the average attendance for the month to be 158; for the quarter ended 30th June, 162. He also asked fo r a supply of fuel. Resolved —‘ That the Sub-Committee provide the necessary fuel and scrapers ’ Several applications were received for school cleaning for the year. That of Mrs Stonehouse, at £l9 10s was acoepted. After passing sundry accounts, the meeting terminated.
