GENERAL ASSEMBLY.
In the Legislative Council last Fri • day, The Hon Mr Pharazyn moved— ‘ That in the opinion of this Council the payment of the honorarium to its members should cease after the present session.’ He said that if that were done it would satisfy the clamor for abolishing the Council.
Colonel Brett opposed the motion in a violent speech, and it was lost, six only voting for it and 25 against it. In the House of Representatives oa Friday,
The Bankruptcy Act passed through Committee.
The Affirmations and Declarations Bill was considered in Committee, and a clause was inserted abolishing oaths in Courts of Justice altogether, affirmations to be used instead.
The following Bills were reported, read a third time, and passed ; —An“ nexntion, Fugitive Offenders Jurisdiction, Murilnka Native Reserves, and Tanmutu Native Commonage Bills. The House rose at 12,25 a.m.
