AUCTIONEERS REPORTS,

TXMAHU. Messrs Maclean and Stewart report for the past week ending Saturday as follows ;

Horses— l heir entry to-day comprised 68 head of all classes, and fully one-half of those found purchasers at prices showing a considerable improvement on late sales, the advance in prices being principally for good draughts. These they quote at L 26 to L 35 ; medium and inferior, L2O to L 22. Hackneys and light harness horses are slow to move off at anything approaching satisfactory prices, and may be quoted at for best sorts, Ll 5 to L2l ; medium and weedy, LlO to L 5. Cattle~Fat cattle are improving slightly in value, but there is not much business being done, Beef may be quoted at 22s 6d per lOOlbs. Well grown store steers are being enquired for, and any lots coming forward now would command fair prices. Their own transactions during the week were at Mr Wightman’s sale : calves sold at 20s ; yearlings, 45s ; heifers, L 3 5s to L 3 10s ; cows up to L 7 10s. Sheep—They have no transactions to report. Fat sheep are in good demand at last quotations, and there are a few transactions in stores pending. Skins—At their regular sale on Wednesday, their catalogue was under the average, several lots not having arrived on account of the wet weather. The local buyers were all present, and prices realised were quite up to sellers’ expectations. Best cross-breds fetched 4s Id, 4s 3d, 4s 4d, and 4s 6d ; second quality, 2s 6d to 3s Id ; inferior, Is 3d to 2s.

Country Sales—On Friday they held a clearing sale of horses, cattle, sheep, and implements, on account of Mr M. Wightman, at his farm, Waitohi. There was a large attendance of farmers, contractors and dealers, and as the horses were well known to be thorough workers, there was keen competition for them, and thirty-five draught were disposed at prices up to L 33, Cattle, implements, and harness sold at good prices. The sale throughout was the most successful the auctioneers have conducted for some time, as the public have confidence in Mr Wightman’s stock turning out well.

London, July 13.

Colonial breadstuff's continue dull. Adelaide flour has declined Is, and to-day is quoted at 82s per 280 lbs ex store. Adelaide wheat remains at 465, and New Zealand at 42s to 45« per 4961bs ex store, Australian tallow has further declined 6d to is per cwt; and best beef is now at 40s 6d, and best mutton at 41s 6d. The total quantity of wheat afloat for the United Kingdom is 1,710,000 quarters, being a reduction of 60,000 quarters during the week.

Best Sydney sun dried coprt* has declined 10s per ton, and is now Ll 9 10s.
