TEMUKA AND GERALDINE A. AND P. ASSOCIATION.
COMMITTEE MEETING. A Committee meeting of the above Association was held on the 15th June, 1883 Members present—Messrs Barker (President), Gray, Hayhurst, Lee, Wright, Twomoy and Wills. The minutes of the last meeting wore read and confirmed.
Considerable discussion took place with reference to a difficulty with Mr Grant concerning the rent of the Society’s ground., It was resolved—* That a SubCommittee consisting of. Messrs Gray and Quinn wait upon Mr Young and Mr Young, and settle the matter amicably. Mr Young’s attention to be drawn to his letter on the subject of the Winchester Domain Board’s arrangement with the Committee with refeience to the four acres enclosed in the Society’s fence, and to report to a Committee meeting to be lin'd within a month from date.’ Sundry accounts having been passed for payment, a draft of the annual report and balance-sheet to be placed before the annual meeting of members was considered and approved of, the rent of the ground, etc , The meeting then terminated. ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of subscribers was held at the Wallingford Hotel, Temuka, on Friday evening, the 15th inst. There was a fair muster of members present. The Secretary said the first business before the meeting was the election of a President, Vice-President and a Treasurer. On the motion of Mr Twomey, seconded by Mr Gray, Mr R. A. Barker was again re-elected President, and Mr John Patcson re-elecied Vice-President.
On the motion of Mr Twomey, seconded by Mr Lee, Mr Gray was re elected Treasurer.
The annual report and balance-sheet having been read were adopted. Moved by Mr Gray, seconded by Mr Hayliur.il,and earned—‘Thatthe General Managing Committee consist of fifteen members in future.’
The following gentlemen were duly elected as a Managing Committee for the current year, viz. : Messrs J. T. M, Hayhurst, M. Quinn, A- Grant, Jno. Talbot, \V. Wiight, W. Deßenzie, E. Lee, Jas. Austin, J. M. Ollivier, J, M. Twomey, Jas. Guild, and.S. Cain. A discussion took place as to the advisability of holding a Show this year, but no definite decision was come to further than that it was thought preferable to defer the consideration of the matter to a further meeting. The meeting terminated with vote of thanks to the Officers for their exertions during the past year. After the annual meeting the newly elected Committee held a meeting, at which Mr Wills was re-appointed Secretary. Some dissatisfaction having been expressed at the place Jpl meeting having been changed from the Star Hotel to the Wallingford President explained that it had occurred through an error on his own part, owing to having been mixed up sp much with other meetings. ; On the motion of Mr Twomey it was decided to hold the meeings in future, in the Star Hotel.
