DESECRATION OF THE SABBATH.

TO THE EDITOR. Sib, —On Sunday afternoon I saw, in the immediate vicinity of Temuka, some .score or. more of persons engaged in an organised rat hunt, with ferrets and dogs My object in writing this is twofold. In the first place 1 consider it my duty (being a witness) to'protest against such a desecration of the Sabbath ; and secondly, I entertain the hope that an appeal io the better feelings of those who were present may not be without success in inducing some of them, at least, pot to countenance similar proceedings for the future.—Yours etc. C. J. Rainer. Temuka, 18th June.
