WINCHESTER GRAIN STORE.
The second preliminary meeeing of farmers and others interested in establishing a company for dressing and storing crrain and for erecting a coal shed at Winchester, was held at Mr Swinton's Hotel on Monday last, Mr Kelland in the chair. Much valuable information was given by Mr Skinner, and after fully discussing the subject in all its bearings, the gentlemen present unanimously agreed that it would be not only of great good to tho district, but a profitable investment. The following reso'ution was then put and carried unanimously—' That preparatory to a public meeting being called, which should be done at the earliest possible date, tho district be canvassed by the present Company to see what support the farmers would be likely to give in respect to subscribing the necessary capital, and to what extent they would be likely to use the machinery for grain dressing.' Messrs Skinner, Kelland, Barker, lowood, Shaw, Kelman and Murray were appointed a committee to draw up all necessary information to lay before a public meeting to be held in the Winchester Schoolroom on Friday evening the 22nd ins!;. The meeting closed with a vote of thanks to the chairman.
