ENGLISH AND FOREIGN. London, May 28. Michael Fagan, the third of the Phoenix Park murderers, was hanged to-day at Dublin. The proceedings passed off without any disturbance. May 29. Mr Gladstone convoked a meeting of tho Liberal party for to-day, to take unto consideration the present state of business in the House of Commons. Later. In the House of Commons to-day, Mr Gladstone announced that the Government would abandon the London Municipal Goyernmet Bill. The Premier added, however, that tho measures relating to corruption and bribery at •elections, tenant farmers’ compensation, bankruptcy, modification of criminal laws, criminal appeal, and patent would be insisted upon, and pressed forward la's fast as possible. - May 30. . The population of Tipperary are organising a demonstration in favor of Archbishop Croke, who was recently reibuked by the Pope for taking part in political affairs. In the House of Commons last night the Tenant Farmers’ Compensation Bill was again under discussion, and was read a second time before the House.. ■ May 30. Telegrams are to hand reporting that the anti-Jewish agitation at Rostoff, in Russia, continues,- The Jewish quarter of the town has been plundered and burnt, and hundreds of Jews have been driven from their homes; The Standard to-day states that Earl Derby has decided to decline to annex New Guinea as a Crown colony, but will permit the establishment of a few trading stations on the coast of That Island, opposite Torres Straits. ; A Blue Book on the subject bt New Guinea has been published and laid before Parliament, The despatches contained in it are dated up to January last, and show that prior to that time both Sir Michael Hicks-Boaeh and Earl Derby had declined to agree to annexation. There is nothing later in the Blue Book except telegrams from the colonies urging tho Secretary of State to approve of the annexation, May 31. James Carey and other informers against the Phcenix Park murderers have left Dublin and quitted Ireland, but their destination has not yet transpired. New York, May 30. The suspension bridge betweem New York and Brooklyn, which was recently opened, was crowded with people to-day, when cries arose that it was unsafe, A stampede occurred, and many people were trampled under foot and several were killed. AUSTRALIAN CABLE. Sydney, May 30. The Government are about to issue a new loan in London, The amount is fixed at £2.000,000, but in the event of the money market being considered favorable, this will be increased to £3,000,000. Melbourne, May 20. At a meeting of the Australian Frozen Meat Company held to-day, it was announced that no dividend would be paid for the past half-year, and that unless stock owners offered better support to the Company it would be necessary to suspend operations.
