CHRISTCHURCH MARKETS,
Messrs Robert Wilkin and Co. report At the Addington Yards on Wednesday the supply of fat sheep was again in excess of requirements of the trade ; biddings being dull throughout the sale for all descriptions. The bulk of those offered came to hand by the early stock train from South Canterbury, a large propoition consisting of prime and good quality sorts. We ®old prims quality and heavy weight cross-breds at 16s 3d and 16s 6d ; good do, from 14s 9d to 15s 3d ; medium do and light weights at lls 9d ; merino wethers, small, at 7s 6i ; a line of ewes at 8s; prime steers at £8 10s each. There was a numerous attendance of buyers at our weekly sale of sheepskins, held by us on Thursday at our New Zealand Wool Stores. As the competion was keen, we cleared the lots at good rates. We catalogued 2585 skins. Butchers’ crossbred, large, 4s 4d, 4s lOd, 5s 3d ; do do medium, 2s 4s, 3s 4d, 4s 4d ; do do small, ■ls 4d, Is 10d, Is lid ; do merino, large, 2s 9d, 3s 3d, 3s 8d ; dodo, second quality, Is sd, 2s Id, 2s 9d ; country crossbreds, large, 4s sd, ss, 5s 9d ; do do, medium, 2s 3d, 3s 4d, 4s 5d ; do do, small, Is 4d, Is lOd, 2s 3d ; do merino, large, 4s sd, 4s lid, 5s 6d, and 6s 5d for some very large skins ; do do, medium, 2s 3d, 3s 4d, 4s 5d ; do do, small, Is 3d, Is 9d, 2s 3d ; pelts, late shorn, Bd,ls 2d. AUSTRALIAN MARKETS. Melbourne, May 30. Shipping wheat is steady, but not in active demand, at 5s 2d. Malting barley is steady at 5s 6d to 6s, the demand being moderate. New Zealand oats are in fair demand at 3s to 8s Id for feeding, and 3s 3d to 3s 4d for milling • ENGLISH MARKETS. London, May 29, Australian and New Zealand breadstuffs have suffered a further decline of Is per quarter in wheat. Adelaide today is at 48s, and New Zealand at 44s to 475, both ex store, Adelaide flour ex store has declined to 33s 6d. Australian tallow remains at 31s for beef, and 32s 6d for mutton. At the wool sales yesterday, 10,000 bales were offered, and there was a fair demand. At to-day’s sabs, 12,600 bales were offered and there was good competition. Greasy wools are now £d to Id higher than at the close of last sales. Faulty scoured is lower, and low cross-breds are £d lower. Fleece wools are in favor of buyers. The first portion of the cargo of frozen mutton ex British King, from Lyttelton, was placed on the market to-day, and realised 6|d per pound. Part of the shipment has been found to have been hastily frozen before being placed on board. i
