A CREW FROZEN.

Particulars have been brought by the last arriving mail steamer at Liverpool from the United States of a terrible shipwreck on Cobb’s Island, Virginia, i The large schooner Albert Daily was going from Baltimore to Bridgeport, when a terrible gale was encountered, and the vessel was driven ashore late at night, The crew was rescued, and when the storm had considerably abated they returned to the vessel, with the hope of getting her afloat again. They were accompanied by Captain Cobb and his force of wreckers. While the party were on hoard another storm sprang up very suddenly and the wreckers returned to the shore. The captain said bo would stay by the ship, and the vessel’s crew stayed with him. The wind, however, increased terbly, and blew in hurricane force. The schooner was bumped and tossed abour, and commenced to fill with water, and all hands had to go to the top of the forehouse, in which position they remained until next morning. There was no abatement of the gale, and the forehouso being too perilous a place for the men, they took to the rigging. They were com- 4

pelled to remain there another 24 hours, when the storm abated. The wreckers, after continued efforts, succeeded in getting on board, when they found that the steward had been washed from the forehouse and drowned, while one of the wreckers who did not go ashore was frozen to death in the rigging. All of the crew were frozen and insensible, and had to be carried ashore in that state. At latest accounts they were in a very critical state.
