TEMUKA BUTTER CHEESE AND BACON-CURING FACTORY COMPANY (LIMITED.)

The ordinary monthly meeting ot the Directors of the above Company was held "last Monday evening in the Wallingford Hotel Present Messrs James Guild (Chairman), K. A. Barker, K. F. Gray, James Austin and S Cain. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. The following accounts were passed for payment: Contractors' progress payment, £200; sundries, £1 4s 2d; total, £2Ol Is 2d. The architect's report was read, shew iug that the building was proceeding satisfactorily, and stating that he (the architect) intended visting Edendale shortly for the purposes of examing the interior arrangements of that factory. The Secretary having shewn that the majority of the shareholders were very backward with their many of them having only paid the application, It was resolved—' That they be informed by circular that the lengthened time which was given for payments having long since elapsed, they would be at once proceeded against, as provided by the Act, and the amounts recovered by legal procedure.' ( The Directors regretted the necessity for these sharp measures, but the requirements of the Company for the building, and for the purchase of the Company renrendered it unavoidable. A letter from a shareholder was read, requesting the Directors to allow him to withdraw his name from the sharelist, in consequence of hard times. The Secretary was instrucued to inform him that the Directors are unable to grant his request. The immediate necessity of procurnng machinery and utensils was discussed,and the Chairman and Mr Gray deputed to make the necessary enquiries; and the Secretary wa? instructed to obtain as much information as possible when in Christchurch. . The usual vote of thanks to the Chair terminated the proceedings.
